If you have been around me the past few months, you have heard me vent about the issues with our produce and the mass production of Genetically Modified Foods and Organisms (GMO’s). I have been working diligently to help others be able to find the most nutritious and healthy foods for themselves and their families. With all the controversy regarding GMO’s, artificial food coloring, Monsanto, pesticides and herbicides, it is becoming increasingly important to know exactly where your produce is coming from. I am so excited to share with you all one of the best ways to get the freshest and healthiest produce from your own back porch, The Tower Garden.
The Tower Garden is a vertical aeroponic growing system that allows you to grow your own organic fruits in vegetables right on your porch or sunroom. Without any weed pulling or constant watering, this unique living tower requires very little oversight (just checking the Ph 2X a week) and it uses less then 10% of the water required by traditional, soil based agriculture. These towers produce large amounts of fruits and veggies, often times, more then you and your family can consume. The Tower Garden was designed and created by Tim Blank, the horticulture guru who oversaw some of the management and design of the living land at Epcot/Disney World for more then 12 years.
If you happen to fly through the Chicago O’Hare airport you can see these towers first hand, 26 tower gardens are between terminals 2 and 3 at O’Hare airport and the produce from these towers are used at many of the restaurants there.
Here are two awesome short videos about the Tower Garden:
This video is of an earthy/organic woman who has a 2,000 square foot greenhouse of these towers, she shows you how easy they are to use and how much food you can get from just one tower:
